Good to know

Step inside the launchpad. 🛸 The space art greets you at the door and doesn't stop… cosmic murals, galactic knight, signs of extra terrestrials all over. This isn't your average rental. It's an out of this world experience built for groups in the heart of Chicago’s hippest neighborhood: the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown. The apartment is completely private and all yours. Centrally located in the Wicker Park neighborhood, you're less than 10 minutes from Downtown, Lincoln Park, and Wrigleyville. Please be considerate of the human neighbours and observe the preferred quiet hours of 10pm–8am. No parties — registered guests only. This unit is 420 friendly, BUT NO BLUNTS, SPLIFFS OR TOBACCO allowed inside the unit. 🏠 The Two-Level Layout: MAIN FLOOR LANDING PAD (bright + windows) ► Living room — 50" Smart HDTV with Roku, comfortable seating, + twin bed ► Fully stocked kitchen — cookware, utensils, coffee maker, fridge, oven, microwave. Use anything you find. ► Half bath ► Front patio (right outside your door, never used by other guests) ► Shared backyard patio (2 other units in the building share) MODERN UNDERGROUND BUNKER (accessed via narrow spiral staircase ↓) ► Bedroom 1 — Full + 2 Twin beds + futon sofa bed (also functions as 2nd living/flex space) ► Bedroom 2 — Queen + Double bed ► Newly renovated full bathroom connecting both bedrooms ► Basement concrete floors (typical for an underground bunker) — clean, characterful, not carpet ► ⚠️ Zero windows — pitch black even at noon. Perfect for sleeping off a big night. Set an alarm. 🛏 7 beds total (2 Queens, 3 Twins, 1 Double, 1 futon) — sleeps up to 8 guests 🎮 Arcade games on site. 📶 High-speed Wi-Fi throughout both levels. 👜 Two open closets — unpack like you're not in a hotel. 🛁 Fresh linens and towels provided for every guest. 🚗 Free street parking available. 🧺 Washer/dryer in the building (shared, not in-unit). 👶 Pack-n-play available on request — just ask before arrival. Note: The apartment is thoroughly cleaned between every guest but due to being an old building from 1890 - it has some wear and is not a sparkling brand new construction home. I hope you understand :) The bedroom has no windows, which means no light comes in the morning... One more note on the underground bunker: the concrete floors are clean but they are basement concrete. They won't look sparkling new, because they're old. We think that's part of the charm. You might just agree. 🛸 The launchpad is perfectly positioned. 📍

Other Details to Note

⚠️ 5 Things to Know Before You Book (We'd rather you know now than be surprised later): 1. 🏡 Historic Building — Real Character, Real Wear: Built in 1890, this charming cottage building is not a brand-new build. Think character, not cookie-cutter. The basement has concrete floors: clean, but they look like 130-year-old concrete — because they are. Some vintage wear throughout the apartment. We clean thoroughly between every guest. 2. 🌀 Spiral Staircase — Please Read Before Booking: The staircase connecting the main floor to the basement bedrooms is a narrow compact spiral. Most guests navigate it easily. However, if anyone in your group has mobility limitations, is elderly, is a very young child, or is bringing oversized or heavy luggage — please seriously consider this before booking. We cannot offer refunds for staircase-related issues after booking. 3. 🌑 Basement Bedrooms Have Zero Windows (Main Floor Does): The two basement bedrooms are completely dark — zero windows, even at noon on a sunny day. The main floor living room, kitchen, and dining area have normal windows and plenty of light. Most guests love the basement darkness for sleeping off a big night. If anyone in your group is claustrophobic or needs natural light to sleep, please factor this in before booking. 4. 🛣 Near a Freeway: Just a block from the freeway. You will NOT hear freeway noise inside the apartment or in the backyard, but the area is dustier than quieter residential streets. We deep clean between every booking. 5. 🐀 Chicago's Rat Reality: Chicago is consistently ranked #1 in the US for rats — it's a citywide issue affecting every neighborhood, not specific to this building or block. You may occasionally see one on the sidewalk or patio in warmer months. The city actively manages pest control in the area. We tell you so you're not surprised, not because it's unusual. 👶 Traveling with a baby or young child? A pack-n-play is available on request — just let us know before arrival. 🧺 Washer/dryer is available in the building (shared), not inside the unit. 📋 Before You Launch — House Rules: ► No parties. $500 fee for unregistered guests. No exceptions. Communicate if you plan to have visitors. ► No pets. ► Max 8 registered guests only. ► Quiet hours: 10pm–8am. Other tenants share this building. ► Check-in: 3:00pm | Check-out: 11:00am ► Self check-in via keypad — code arrives 24 hrs before arrival. No waiting around. 🌿 420 Rules (Yes, we're friendly — here's how it works): ► Cannabis welcome indoors (no blunts, spliffs or tobacco) and on the back patio ► NEVER on the front deck - neighbors and passersby are right there ► Cigarettes outside only. Butts in the outdoor trash — not inside the unit. 🌡 Thermostat: Do not engage HOLD outside 65°F–75°F range. 🚽 Toilets — Mission Critical: Flush toilet paper ONLY. No wipes, no feminine products — ever. Violations = minimum $200 plumber fee + the unit may become unusable mid-stay. Don't let this be the reason your trip ends early. 🗝 Checkout: All crew + belongings out by 11am. Thank you for reading the mission briefing. We love hosting — enjoy the Crash Pad and Wicker Park. 🚀 Ready for launch? 🚀 Send us a message with your dates, group size, and what you're celebrating. We respond fast (not quite light speed but as fast as we can) and love hosting groups. Whether it's a birthday, a bachelorette, or a crew that just needs the coolest base camp in Wicker Park, the Crash Pad has you covered. Book now — 7 beds in Wicker Park don't stay open long on a weekend.

This place is not just for friends to crash. I stayed here with my son. It is a beautiful place in a safe neighborhood with easy to find parking. The basement bedrooms are dark, so bring a night light if you need one. It was cozy, comfy, and perfect. I was worried about traffic noise since it is close to a freeway, but I didn't notice any traffic noise inside. Even the adorable back yard area was protected from a lot of traffic sounds by the surrounding buildings. Everything was lovely.

I really enjoyed my stay. The location is perfect, and the area is very peaceful. The house is exactly as described in the listing, and everything met my expectations. I also appreciated how responsive the host was they replied quickly and were very helpful.

I really liked this place. Although we had minor issues outside our control, Bianca was quick with responses and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. However the basement where most of the rooms are, is cold but the blankets made everything better. Place was very comfortable. The only thing though, being a person with hips makes going down the spiral stairs a bit hard to go down or up. lol Parking can be found even down the street but still walkable distance. For check out, Bianca was fantastic. 10/10 for me!!!

This place is loaded with cool art, amenities, and lots of games to play! Located in a great part of Chicago and an easy walk to all of my favorite Chicago neighborhoods, including Wicker Park, Bucktown, West Town, and Ukrainian Village! Don’t let the proximity to the freeway deter you. It was not in the least bit disturbing and I couldn’t hear it from the bedrooms downstairs. This place is highly recommended, especially for a family or group of friends headed to Chicago for a trip!
